Our trainee assessors recently attended 12 hours of chemistry classes to refresh their knowledge about this critical aspect of the roles they will perform when qualified. The classes were very professionally run by Professor Ian McHale and overseen by our training institute leader, former Dilworth School headmaster, Dr Murray Wilton.
The first class covered chemistry basics such as particle theory, atomic theory, collision theory, states of matter, bonding, organic chemistry and the language used in chemistry (e.g: periodic table, formulae and equations). The second class was about controlled substances – explosives, compressed gases, and flammable solids and liquids. The last class was about toxic substances, oxidizing substances and corrosive substances.
Congratulations to all the trainees who successfully completed the course and passed the rigorous testing modules.
